This man is not so different from most in our society. He gets up 5 days a week. He sits in traffic, then he sits frustrated at his desk while he works for the dreams of a man that would fire him in a heartbeat. Why is the world the way it is and how can you break free from this? Today, I want to show you a way to get out of this Rat Race, a way where you can stop working for someone else's dream and use all the knowledge in your head to take control of your life. Because the skills that you use day in and day out as you clock in and solve problems all day for somebody else's business, those skills, you may not know it, but those skills are the foundation of your very own Financial Freedom. Let me show you how all that Knowledge and Skills that you have in your head can earn you much more than your current paycheck.
You see, I started out in this exact way myself. I actually used to be an editor for reference books for libraries, and I used what I knew from that job to create my own ebooks that I sold online. I also ended up teaching others how to set up their own businesses that way. That enabled me to quit my boring editor job and support my family fully with my ebook and coaching business. You may not know this, but Gary Vaynerchuk is another great example of this. Before he was famous, he used to work for his parents' retail wine store, and he used the knowledge that he had from that simple wine store to create a massive online Empire. His current net worth is over $100 million. There are so many stories like this that I could tell, and I'm going to show you in five simple steps how you can do this exact same thing with the knowledge and the skills that are already in your head.
So, here is step one: In order to do this, you need to identify your marketable skills and knowledge. Every job teaches something valuable, whether it's customer service, project management, or a specific trade skill. There is something that you can offer. If it's just a matter of discovering it. So what I want you to do is grab a notebook and write down all the skills that you've mastered in your current and past job roles. I want you to even include things that you don't think are valuable. Because in the next step, I'm going to show you how to whittle it down the list only to things that are going to make you money. But for now, we're just trying to make as big of a list as we can. And I also want you to include hobbies or side interests that maybe have nothing to do with your job, but you've gained somewhat of an expertise in that area as well. And again, it could even be something that you don't even think is going to make you any money.
Now, step two. I want you to go and see how much money you can make with this skill. You could just by doing a simple search on a site called upwork.com. This is a crucial step because this is going to show you how much money you can make with the skills that are in your head. All you have to do is take the things that you wrote down in your notebook in step one and start typing them into upwork. For example, let me show you. If I do this and I search for accounting, let's just say I'm an accountant, for example. And then I do this and I click projects and I do a search. And then this is really key. What I'm going to do over here is I'm going to click on price. And I'm going to make the minimum price $1,000. I'm going to make the maximum, why not let's make it $20,000. Okay, so then I'm going to click apply, and you can see the kinds of money that people are making with accounting skills, for example. And you could put any skill in here and see how much money you could possibly be making. This is really important because some of the things on your list are going to make you much more money than others. But you can see here if you were an accountant. Look at these things: $2,000, $2,500, $3,300, and the list goes on and on.
Now what I want you to do next in step three is to set up an upwork profile focused on the highest paying items on that list. And again, you're going to figure out which ones are the highest paying items because you're going to do searches for them on upwork just to see. It's a pretty simple setup. You just want to do it just like I'm showing you right here. Just go through all the steps. And I'm I know I'm going through it kind of quickly here, because it's not rocket science. You can always pause this video if I'm going too fast. But after you get your profile all set up, I want you to do some more searches for your expertise. And I want you to take particular note on the keywords that job posters are using when they're looking to hire someone just like you with your expertise. This is really important because in your profile, in your bio section, and in your description section, you want to have their keywords in there, not yours. So this isn't the way you might refer to your job or expertise. This is the way job posters are thinking about your job in your area of expertise. You'd be surprised what kind of keywords that they use. It might not be the same ones that you're using in your everyday line of work. And this is really important because upwork is going to use those keywords to connect you with people looking to pay top dollar for your knowledge and skills.
Step four is you're going to go out and you are going to bid on a couple of jobs related to your expertise. And you're going to on purpose, you're going to charge them very, very little money or even do it for free. Why would you do this? Because the first thing that you need to do is establish some work history on upwork. In other words, if you do a job for extremely inexpensive or free, then you can get their review and their testimonial. And it will go directly onto your upwork profile. And this is going to help you get hired for your expertise many, many, many times in the future. But when you first get started, you don't have any job history or any reviews on your profile. So the easiest way to do it is just to do a couple of jobs where you're doing it for very, very inexpensively or even for free, just to get the positive reviews. You're probably realizing at this point, this is going to be a little bit of work to get this thing going, and it is going to pay off for you in the future.
I do want to talk about the fifth and final step to making money with the expertise and the knowledge that is already in your head. And this is that I want you to go out and I want you to bid on jobs on upwork every single day. If you bid on three to four jobs every single day, it'll take you about 30 to 45 minutes. You can easily do it on your lunch break. And that is when you're really going to see the client starting to roll in, and that is where you're really going to be able to see the income you make from this side hustle exceed the income that you're making on your day job. But it is extremely important that you are bidding on jobs, you're sending out proposals every single day. Again, I would have it be your goal to do three or four every single day. And the most important thing is that you start sending out proposals right away. You can always perfect things later, you can always perfect your online profile later, or perfect your techniques later. But if you start getting out there and sending out proposals, you're going to start getting some money coming in. And it's going to be like fuel, like a fire inside you to keep you going.
