Guys, I promised you an Instagram updates video, and it is here, and it is a gooden. It's potentially one of the best ones I've done, and I've not even filmed it yet. The reason why I know that this is gonna be one of my best Instagram updates videos is because there are so many interesting, juicy, is that the right word? I'm just gonna roll with it. Juicy new updates coming to Instagram. So let's not hang about, let's just get straight to the updates.
So, I think I got to be excited there, and I forgot to say that there are two secret updates. So, updates that Instagram have not yet announced that I'm gonna be telling you at the end of this video. The first update is to do with hashtags. And no, I know what you're thinking. Instagram is not reverting back to the good old days where you could add some hashtags to your post and you would actually get more reach as a result. No, those days are not coming back anytime soon. Instead, the changes that Instagram have made in relation to their hashtags are specifically for hashtags which represent a social cause.
The next set of updates I want to talk about are updates that are coming to Instagram's tagging features. So there's two I want to focus on. The first are the updates coming to product tagging. So the ability to actually tag products in your post has been around for a while, but previously, that was only available to the shop owner.
There are also some updates coming to direct messages. Now, I kind of saw this coming because at the start of the year, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, did say that one of their key focus areas for 2022 was going to be direct messaging. So I've been kind of waiting for these updates to come, and here they are.
Okay, I want to hear from you. Shall we talk about Instagram's new immersive feed? Now, I'm pretty sure I actually spilled the beans about this one. Spilled the beans. Do I normally say that phrase? I don't know why I come out with random things when there's a camera in front of me. I don't usually say in real life.
The time has come for us to talk about the secret updates, right? The reason why I'm saying these are secret is because Instagram haven't come out and officially announced them, at least at the time of me recording this video. Okay, how do I know about these if Instagram haven't come out and released them? Well, unfortunately for Instagram, they appear to have a few leaks at their company because, honestly, every time they test a new feature, someone seems to leak it to the press, and people write about it.
What it is is the ability for you to copy the formatting and the editing cuts of someone else's reel. So if you have TikTok, this is kind of similar to their audio sync feature. So on TikTok, when you upload a bunch of clips, TikTok is going to give you a few song options that you can automatically edit all of your clips to so that it goes with the beat of the song. Okay, obviously Instagram are trying to rival TikTok, so they were going to come out with their own feature.
So there was one significant update which did not make the cut for this video, and the reason why is because it was so significant that it demanded its own video.
