Choosing the Right Topics for Your YouTube Videos

Step one is obvious, but it's crucial that you do this the right way, and that is picking the correct topics to make videos about. Now, what I want you to do is I want you to do a search. I'm showing on my screen one of 10 plugin, and then on top here is going to be an important plug-in that you can install. It's really easy. You just click this button right here and mine says remove him Chrome 'cause I already have it, but it's going to say add to Chrome right there, and then you just click and add it to your Chrome browser, and you'll be off to the race. Do a search in YouTube for any topic that you know enough about that you think you could talk for a few minutes about it on a video. I just did a search for vegan. You can also get a lot of great ideas if you do a search and then pause before you click enter, and you'll see a bunch of topics come down here in the drop-down. This can give you a bunch of other topic searches that you can do, and you might look at some of these topics say hey, I can actually do a video about it. I could talk for a few minutes about that. Don't worry, I'm going to talk about how to make the videos in just a second, but more think about it: Is this something that I know enough about that I could talk for a few minutes about?

Making High-Quality YouTube Videos with Three Main Points

Now, once you've got your topics, step two is actually making your video, and I have a simple rule for you about making videos that are going to really help your videos succeed, okay? Rule number one, make it 10 to 12 minutes long. Rule number two, make your video have three main points. So, whether you write the whole thing out ahead of time and you literally write your entire script out exactly what you're going to say, or whether you just make a brief sort of outline and then you just talk from your knowledge that's in your head, either way you want it to be 10 to 12 minutes long and you want it to have three main topics, three main points. And then after that, you want to end the video with a call to action. That means, what do you want the viewer to do? And I'm going to talk specifically about what to say in that call to action in the next step. But before I get into the next step in the call to action, I know you're probably asking, how do I actually make the videos?

Maximizing Income on YouTube Beyond Ad Revenue

Now, step three is how do you actually make the money, and this is where I see most YouTubers making a mistake and leaving a lot of money on the table. You see many YouTubers out there, the main way they try to make money is by ad revenue. While these YouTube videos are playing, you might even see videos. You might even see this while you're watching me right now. There might be some ad that shows, and you have to kind of wait for the ad to pass while you're watching the video. YouTube will actually pay the video owner a small percentage of the ad revenue that they get. But actually, you don't get paid very much at all for that ad revenue compared to what I'm about to show you.
