The Realities of Being a Full-time YouTuber

So I've been a full-time YouTuber for a year now, and let me tell you, it's not what I thought it was gonna be. It has been full of surprises, so I want to tell you just a bit more information about that and I want to tell you the realities of being a full-time YouTuber and a lot of the things that a lot of full-time YouTubers don't tell you. So before we get into it, be sure to hit the Subscribe button, but also to check out some of the freebies that I have available in my description. Let's get to it.

The Myth of Full-time YouTubers Being Solely YouTubers

The first thing that I originally did not realize about being a full-time YouTuber...right, so this is back in the day when I used to watch YouTubers and I just didn't really realize this thing...and it's that most full-time YouTubers aren't just YouTubers, myself included. Most full-time YouTubers do something else. What? And previously, before I entered this world, I just thought they were full-time YouTubers. Don't get me wrong, some are, but a lot of them aren't. Understanding the Money Aspect of YouTube

Now, the next one is a big one. I didn't realize about becoming a full-time YouTuber is that you might not make that much money from YouTube. I think I always thought, like, once you join the partner program, which, by the way, if you don't know what that is, it is essentially YouTube's program which allows them to pay their creators. So once you accumulate 4,000 watch hours over the past 12 months and you have over 1,000 subscribers, you are eligible to apply to the partner program, and if you get accepted, then you will be able to put adverts on your videos, and that is how you earn money...

Factors Influencing Income as a YouTuber

Now, let's talk about some of the factors which are outside of your control which are going to affect how much money you can make as a YouTuber, right? Now the first is location, but not just your location because I guess you can kind of control that, but specifically the location of your audience. So if we think about what I just told you about the ads that play in my videos...

The Trap of Tying Self-Worth to YouTube Metrics

Another reality of being a full-time YouTuber is that you will become incredibly tempted to tie your value to your subscriber count and your view count. It will become very hard for you not to do that...

Creativity and Skill in YouTube Content Creation

Another reality of being a YouTuber or a full-time YouTuber that I wasn't aware of is that you really don't need to be that creative or that talented of a videographer...
