Okay, YouTube has announced that they will be updating their live streaming feature, and they will now be allowing creators to go live with other creators. So that's super exciting and that is a really great opportunity for all of those creators out there who love a good collab and who are trying to grow by actually collaborating with other people. This is going to be basically your golden ticket to allow you to do that. So, according to YouTube, collaborative live streamings will, and I quote, "allow creators to go live together and create even more interactive streams for their audiences." Oh, how exciting! So that's a new feature coming to YouTube soon.
The next feature that I'm going to be talking about is actually related to live streaming, and it's called gifted memberships. So, in order for you to actually understand how gifted memberships work, you first have to realize that YouTube has a membership subscription feature which some people aren't actually aware of. So, YouTube does actually give creators the ability to charge their audience $4.99 in dollars - $4.99 per month - to access exclusive content from them. Right now, what gifted memberships will allow people to do is to actually gift other users memberships or subscriptions to these channels, and this is usually done during an actual live stream.
By the way, guys, how weird is it that I just did that segment standing up? I never filmed standing up. Most people in my niche zone, this is like my equivalent of a standing desk that people have in the office, you know? Anyway, okay, so next up we have shorts. There are actually quite a few changes coming to shorts. The first one, which will mirror that of Instagram Reels and TikTok, the originator of this new feature is that you will now be able to respond to a comment in a short. So, I'll put an example on my left; it might be an example from TikTok or Instagram depending on whether or not I can find an actual live example of someone doing this with shorts.
A few more updates for you to be on the lookout for; so one is all around YouTube shopping. And to be fair, it's not just one update; there's actually quite a few. So YouTube has basically announced that they're going to be dedicating a lot of resources to just leveling up their shopping feature. So this will include shoppable videos, live shopping, etc. Keep an eye out for more changes coming to that feature because it sounds like there's going to be a lot. Another change coming to YouTube is going to be around their TV application.
