So this is a very exciting update because I have a huge vested interest in the mode ecosystem. I personally really like just earning the optimism tokens from staking the mode tokens. So for season 2, this will end tomorrow on 18th October. After the end of season 2, that will mark the beginning of season 3, which we will get into later. What you're going to want to do now is if you participated in mode season 2, you will have 30 days to claim tokens from airdrop 2 and unclaimed tokens will be allocated to future rewards for users and developers on mode. So make sure you claim those tokens. The points will be converted to mode tokens. You can claim them the same day tomorrow, which will be the end of season 2. So that's perfect. We don't need to wait.
And if you're in the top 1,000 wallets by points, same as season 1, you're only going to be able to receive 50% on that day tomorrow and then 50% after 90 days. You'll need a minimum of 250 points required to get airdrop. Now the season 3, this is very interesting because this will run for approximately 3 months with real yield incentives of over $2 million, which is one of our viewers asking about the mode. He was asking me what do I think about V mode. So what's happening right now in season 3 is mode is launching V mode and becoming the first L2 to implement a vote escrow model for the distribution of incentives to ecosystem protocols.
Here we go, let's take it step by step. First, these are the key dates. This is very important information. This is very important information. So today, you can start staking your mode if you haven't, going live today. But tomorrow, 18th October, the old mode staking contract will be upgraded to the new V mode staking contract in the mode dashboard to continue earning APY rewards. So if you go back to the mode dashboard, there's no UI for you to do that right now. That's going to happen tomorrow, 18th of October. There will be a button here for you to upgrade to V mode should you choose to do that. Then on 24th of October, next week, that's when voting goes live.
